Shade Measurement Guidelines

Measuring your window correctly is the first step to ensuring your custom shade fits perfectly. With accurate measurements, your shade will look clean, elegant, and professionally installed.

Inside Mount or Outside Mount: Your First Decision

Before you grab a tape measure, choose your mount type. Each option offers distinct benefits and suits different windows and installation needs.

How to Measure

Before You Measure

Tip: If you are unsure which mount type to choose, measure for both options before making a decision.

Check that window handles and tilt-and-turn windows will not interfere with the shade.

  • Step1

Choose Inside Mount or Outside Mount first.

  • Step2

Use a metal tape measure, not a cloth or soft tape.

  • Step3

Measure to the nearest 1 mm. Do not round up or down.

  • Step4

    Always enter the measurements as:

    Width × Height (W × H)

Inside Mount

  • Window Depth: Minimum 72 mm required.
  • Window Width: Measure the inside window width at the top, middle, and bottom. Use the smallest measurement.
  • Window Height: Measure the inside window height on the left, in the center, and on the right. Use the largest measurement.

Order Width (mm) = Smallest Window Width − 3 mm

Order Height (mm) ≥ Largest Window Height (For Zebra Shades: Order Height = Window Height)

Outside Mount

  • Window Width: Measure the outside width of the window frame.
  • Window Height: Measure the outside height of the window frame.

Recommended Width (mm): Add 100 mm or more to the window width for better light control and privacy.

Recommended Height (mm):

Option 1

Add a minimum of 150 mm to the window height.

Option 2

Measure from the intended installation point above the window to where you want the shade to end.
